Contact Helping.Mom (we don’t spam) Hurricanes are 100mph, and 1000 miles wide--a draining bludgeoning of wind + water + waiting. Typhoons in Asia sometimes last 30-days. In USA the avg time is 6 days. The worst hurricane in US history? Not Florida, but TX. In Acts 27 Paul is a caregiver enduring a grueling, draining 2-week long Euroclydon (typhoon) on board a ship in Adriatic Sea. Paul is best example of caregiver--identifying, serving, humbling, warning, encouraging, feeding, serving, speaking--while inside a hurricane. SOAPBOX: End PBMs & Medicare Advantage!!! Shout out to Pastor Joel Zipay, who gave me the Best Advice on being a caregiver.

Contact Helping.Mom (we don’t spam) Daughter Vivian (9yoa) reads Bible to us from John 19:26-7; 1 Timothy 5:4, and; Mark 7:10-13. QUERY: Are we so spiritually minded, we are of no earthly good? Amidst our blessings from God, do we chuck grandmother into a government-provided nursing home, and walk away from her? Do we say "We'll pray about it," or "We're thinking about you?" when we see someone close to us in need, yet "turn the other cheek" and walk away as quickly as we can? Do we believe and behave, or simply believe? Today join me and my daughters Milana, Elise & Vivian as we study 3 related Bible stories.

Contact Helping.Mom (we don’t spam) Today we begin Guardianship, and why I love it. It's challenges are real, tho its blessings moreso. I related how the captured German U-Boat U505 helped shape me as person, and open my eyes to power of words--like "guardianship," which means Garden Ward Protection Servant Whole--all of which things go into our daily serving as guardian for our loved one. Enjoy this podcast and share with me your own experiences, tips, prayer requests about being guardian, Info@helping.mom

Contact Helping.Mom (we don’t spam) There are 3 phases of caring for your mom, and you will do all three, barring her untimely demise. The first is informal, the second is Power of Attorney, and the third is Legal Guardianship. This podcast focuses on strengths/weaknesses of informally caring for mom or dad. It is easy, creates no legal or moral authority for you (other than being a good child, doing your best to help), but leads to frustration as your mom worsens. And because you had no agreement with mom upfront, and no plan with your siblings who would do what for her when THAT TIME gets here (it is here, now), you are stuck. The thing about informal care: you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make mom drink. But what to do when it gets serious--she refuses to go to hospital, he wants to marry a Russian gold digger online, they give away their money to TV preachers....what to do next, to "make" them do what you say? Stay tuned

Contact Helping.Mom (we don’t spam) Every fact about aging in USA is negative. But 2 ideas are shared in today's podcast to improve it greatly. The key to US national aging policy must be to keep seniors in their homes as long as possible, or, if not, in the homes of loving, caring (compensated) family members.
