Contact Helping.Mom (we don’t spam) First, the bitter pill to swallow. If you are alone as a grandparent, it is your fault. If your grandkids are not with you, if the couch beside you is empty, it is because they are economists--the cost of trying to be with you outweighs the benefit of them doing so. You are negative, narrow, mean and boring. But you can change. You can turn this around, easily. Why? Because all grands want to be with their grandparents! I LOVED my Hard-Shell German/Pole Grammy & Grampy, and my sweet, Jesus-loving Hillbilly granny Nan. Today I give 10 practical things you can do to fill your couch with Grands. Share with me your own ideas & experiences, to info@helping.mom

(No, just kidding), but a different DePaul, one we have sadly forgotten about. Let his labor to "serve the next person before me who needs help," inspire us to do the same thing, at, say, Wal-Mart, or with our mom. NOTE: Sorry for construction noise in background, but I am getting house ready for my mom to come home from rehab. Yes!

Contact Helping.Mom (we don’t spam) To the same degree I reject television "faith healers," I believe fully that God heals. I have seen it, in Africa & America. And, the Bible is full of it--20X in Old Testament, 50X in New Testament, and Jesus 25X. God heals every level of society, including individuals and groups, and "enemies" like Roman military commanders and slave-owners in Israel. He heals men, women, children, rich, poor, powerful & pauper. God heals at 3-Levels: body, mind, spirit. For this reason, we must pray His healing of our moms at these same 3-levels: for her soul, her mind, and her body. God heals for 4 reasons. And because of this, I set forth 7 things we must pray for healing for our moms (& ourselves). Thanks for joining us today. You can always email me at Info@helping.mom

Contact Helping.Mom (we don’t spam) Praying is our greatest work for mom & dad. But what does prayer look like? HOW can we do it? I created the acrostic P.R.A.Y. to help us pray soundly for our mom. Then, I lead us in a real prayer using P.R.A.Y. To pray is to P.R.A.Y.:P=Praise God for His attributes and characterR=Repent of our shortcomings, that separate us from HimA=Ask for the petitions on our heart for our momY=Your will be done, "on earth as it is in heaven." But HERE is our challenge: if God gives us nothing we ask for, will we still trust him? Though He take our mother, will we still yet love Him?

Contact Helping.Mom (we don’t spam) I have experienced 3 hidden blessings from spending ample time with mom, amidst the grind of being her guardian, things I never would have expected, but now cling to as great sources of joy in my life. The first is my pride in her, and in her achievements each day, through surgery, therapy, rehab. I am proud of her, like my 6th daughter. The second is her side-splitting humor. She is hilarious at times. The third, life talks, on topics ranging from gaps in family history to the worst advice she ever received in life. Caregiving means we listen. When we do, we are blessed. I give you here some questions you may ask your parent. What blessings do you find from spending great time with your aged parent? Please email me at Info@helping.mom
